Hello All,
Well, we are halfway through the season and what an interesting start its been. Our promotion to Premier Division after winning both Senior Football and A Grade Netball last season has been tough but there are plenty of positives.
Senior Football
Only winning the 2 games for our Senior side and yet to win one for the Ressies was definitely not the start we were after. There have been some injuries to key players that haven’t gone on our favour which puts pressure on both sides. The positive side is it has given some of our younger players an opportunity to play some senior games which is great for the club moving forward. We have been in games, there are games we should’ve won but we don’t seem to be gelling the way we need to win games. Training has been strong, and the group are confident of a better showing to finish off the season.
The real positive has been our Woman’s Football side. A first for the Emerald Senior Club and with limited numbers at the start of the season to be sitting equal 4th is exceptional. The team has been a great addition to the club bringing great enthusiasm and a sense of fun. They keep improving and it’s going to be exciting what happens in the back end of the season.
Netball.
Our A Grade Team currently sitting 6th have had a mixed start to the year. Like the senior football side, injuries have been an issue. That said there has been some brilliant results when all players available so the back half of the season will be exciting.
B Grade suffer a little like the Ressies with A grade injuries and have only won the one game. With some players coming back it will be interesting to see how they go.
C & D Grade are sitting mid table with some mixed results. There have been some fantastic wins and some disappointing losses but both still in the mix to play finals which is a great achievement.
Committee
As announced at the Season Launch this will be the last year for some key people on the Committee. Ideally, we would like some interested parties to step forward in the next few weeks to begin some on the job training for season 2025. All positions as per every year will be open and it is an extremely satisfying to be involved. Please reach out to myself, Mel, Kelly or any committee member to register your interest.
